Some of the medal bars shared earlier (ebay fakes) March 25th shared, seem to have been created as fakes. The Swastika has been removed either by photo editing or intentionally by the creator. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. With some of the medal combos I would have been a bit skeptical but there were many shared that I would have been fooled with. Great thread. Thanks for sharing Pierce. Simply Fascinating. JustinG

Kev , there's more. Yes over time but most from before they were fashionable. I posted a lot of these on WRF many moons ago and am now just working through the attic when I get a few hours.

Nice. It is interesting to see how much of a difference there is with the different dye used for these. The scoop from the back, the detail on the legs different. Some of the variations were so obvious, I was expecting you to have on the end a guess which one was period and which one was a fake/forgery. Thanks for sharing. Really interesting how much liberty was allowed to occur between pieces. Best Regards, JustinG

Untersturmführer Paul Kändler 9. 3.19 Altenburg/Thür. †21.12.44 Büllingen Kraderk.Zug/Pz.Rgt.12 12.44 Not sure but he was transfered from LW or WH to the Stab/ Pz.Rgt.12 HJ. At the 21 december 1944 a few vehicles of the Kraderk.Zug.Pz.Rgt.12 drove from the Triererstrasse (a farmer house at the Triererstrasse a few kilometers from Büllingen was the Gefechtsstand of Stab. of Pz.Rgt.12 HJ) to Büllingen. They drove into the center of Büllingen and parkerd the vehicles and the young soldiers moved into the cellars of some houses. There were still some civilians left and were living in the cellars of the houses. An artillery barrage of the nearby US troops started and after it stopped the soldiers walked out the cellars, finding Ustuf. Paul Kändler dead on the streets. He was the only killed during that attack, mostlikely he stayed near the vehicles at the moment the group was searching the houses for food and other things. He was layed down in one of the vehicles and the group drove back to the Gefechtsstand of Pz.Rgt.12.. Kändler was burried left of the small farm and was after the war burried at Recogne. As can see the year of birth is not correct!

This might very well be what you are looking for. It looks like that particular Kp was equipped with Hetzers: Panzerjäger-Abteilung 277 Courtesy of Sturmpanzer.com you can see that the Gliederung for a Volksgrenadier-Division shows how the Panzerjäger-Btl should be equipped, in this case the 2.Kp should be equipped with 14 assault guns and 16 light MG's.

I think it's the Silesian Eagle in 4th place for Gustav Nordt. Just my two cents. :)

How about adding Thomas Wittmann to this list. A dealer that every new collector MUST be aware of. Wittmann Militaria They continually list humped up, and outright fantasy daggers and knives as original, at exorbitant prices! Their best sellers are: • The Fantasy HJ Olympics knife (They list them for around $1800-2000 each) • The Fantasy DJ knives (They list them for around $1600.- each) • The Fantasy BDM knives • The Fantasy Reichsparteitage souvenir/knives (They list them for around $1500 each) What makes this dealer detrimental to the hobby is that they are prepared to completely alter history in order to sell their bad wares. Over the past few years we have seen Wittmann Militaria add some really horrible fakes to their site, accompanied by an invented story to legitimize the item. If they were not already on the bottom of the list, then they are surely sinking down to the same level as other dealers who used to be OK, like BECK MILITARIA, HOUSE OF HISTORY... and who see no Problem with filling their site with fakes and fantasy items. What makes matters worse is that they are not prepared to enter into any form of debate on their wares at all. They have long since placed themselves at the top of the food table, and see no problem offering collectors their, sometimes very twisted, idea of history. Advice to any new collectors thinking of buying from them. Post an image of the item you want on a forum first, just to see if the offered item indeed has anything to do with WW2, or reality!
