  1. Holders of the Johanniterorden Dear Friends, Many German officers were members of the Johanniterorden (Order of St. John). I would like us to maintain a photo reference thread depicting these Johanniterorden holders. The photos can be from any era. My hope is that this will serve as a useful reference for the community here. Best wishes Pierce F.
  2. You need to load the photos here and not on an image site. Kind regards. Pierce

  4. Dear friends, I have spent considerable time trying to find out what Italian ribbons/medals Mussolini wore. I am non compos mentis when it comes to Italian ribbons, but even at that, there was little to be found on the net to be honest. Now that I have found out this information I would like to make it available to members here. I know it does not seem like much, but as a ribbon bar researcher, this type of information is like gold dust! Best, Pierce

  9. The purpose of this thread is to establish the 767 recipients of the German Olympic Decoration 1st Class. It is an interesting decoration as it was awarded to civilian and military personnel alike. The decoration was designed by Prof. Waldemar Raemisch. Here is an extract from the English translation of Herr Dr. Heinrich Doehle's 1943 'Die Auszeichnungen des Groβdeutschen Reichs', regarding Das Deutsche Olympia-Ehrenzeichen 1. Klasse: "The XI Olympic Games were held in Berlin during the summer of 1936 and the Olympic Winter Games held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen during February 1936. Hitler established on February 4, 1936 the statutes creating the German Olympic Merit Decoration. The decoration is awarded through the recommendation of the Ministry of the Interior." "The 1st Class was awarded for outstanding leadership in the organisation of the games. The Olympic decorations and medals were awarded to Germans and foreign nationals."
