  1. Pour le Mérite holders during the Third Reich Dear Friends, Many of the World War One winners of this prestigious decoration went on to serve their country again in World War Two. I would like us to maintain a photo reference thread depicting these Pour le Mérite winners in their Third Reich uniforms. My hope is that this will serve as a useful reference for the community here. Best wishes Pierce F.
  2. Nick, A most impressive grouping. Thanks for sharing it. Kind regards, Pierce
  3. I would garner more opinion, but my vote is for SS Maurice & Lazarus. The Order of Savoy was listed on his list of awards.
  4. It could be the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus. It has more rounded arms and I don't see the wreath that is on the Savoy Order. What do you think yourself?
  5. If anything, it is the Commanders Cross NOT Grand Officer grade. So perhaps he was award the Knight's Cross first (low grade for his rank though??) and then a year later the Commander Cross. This is one Italian Order that was not just handed out so low grades for high ranked officers is nothing unusual in my opinion.

  10. This info came from a thread on GMIC. I am not sure of the exact source but it would be interesting to find out more.
  11. No. 2 has to be the Honour Cross but I see what you would query it. The last ribbon does look like the Sudetenland Medal, but the photo is not big enough to confirm. Check his career bio.
  12. You already have all the answers in the ABR thread.....the Red Cross is confirmed in my post above and you have a list of the foreign awards.

    Two unknown badge awards

Your theory holds water. However, another war badge that is cut-out is the Destroyer Badge. Review his career and see which fits better and also study the photo again. The Coastal Artillery Badge is a good guess I think, but the photographic evidence is thin on the ground at present.

    Two unknown badge awards

No. 1 is like one of the Spanish Orders but it is not detailed enough to determine. For No. 2 I would advise you to make comparisons with the KM badges, and again, look at his career to see if he would be entitled to such a badge.
  21. Check your Rank Lists. It will tell you if he had the Braunschweig Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Kl.
  22. Generalleutnant Otto Kühne wearing something foreign I think. Any idea what?
