    WW2 US Repo Uniforms

Hi Guy's, I have a friend who has a neat store that sells items for Man Caves (football, Bar, cast models, and some original Military items, and also weapon replicas like Dentex etc) and he has set up some nice window displays, and the theme is Military and now he needs to get his hands on some repo WW2 US repo uniforms to set up a full mannequin display of a combat US solider, So does anyone know of any good repo makers web sites I can put him on to. Thanks for any help, Lou
  4. Hi Hans, thanks for you comments, at the moment these are the only images I have, I am working with the seller at the moment, but I am having a bit of a issues with him, as the other item I was looking to buy from him turned out to be bad, so things may not proceed:-(. Best Regards, Lou
  5. Hi Guy's, I am in the process of obtaining this very nice Wilhelm Deumer LW Pilot/Observer's badge, in mint condition. For me it looks all good but would like your thoughts. Thanks for looking, Lou
  6. Hi Guys, Its been a while since I posted anything up:-(. Been a bit quite in the collecting side of things. Anyway I have a opportunity to add this nice cap to my collection, also for me the type of material used to make this cap, I've seen mainly use in Officers caps not EM/NCO. Also anyone read German and can tell me what it says on the name tag. These are the only images I have, but I know the source I am getting it from, plus I know the eagle is right, and the skull what you can see of it on that angle looks good, the cap its self has even wear, and sweat! Thanks for looking, Lou

    SS M43 cap

Hi Rich, Yep thats the the mind field these days, and for the last decade and more, just to many copies out there, and they are getting better and better at it, for me as I have been collecting for a while, I left my guard down, as this cap was introduced to me by a long time collector that know his stuff, so I was backing his judgement on it, plus the price was not ridiculous, as most SS stuff on the market is just outrages:-(. I was lucky that I dicied to have a good look at the insignias, and that is when the alarm bells started! Oh well another learning lesson, Lou

    SS collar tab price

Hi I am not a expert in these SS tabs, but what I can tell you, as I had to look into these metal pips, as I had to find one for my SS tab, and that is that the size of of the pip for collar tabs is the small on the centre on on your tab, the other two larger pips are for shoulder boards, so to me it looks like someone has replaced the two outer pips post War. Again I am not sure if the tabs are good, I hoping someone on the forum can give you more advice on the originality of this set. Lou

Show us your Best of 2017 !

My only purchase this year, as the items I am looking for are hard to get:-(. I pick this beast of a helmet carrier of US E-bay, just like the massive rear clip, plus it was well worn! Also due to the condition of the leather the strap broke when I took it out of the box, so I had to do some mending, that is why you can see a thin wire. Just to mention the helmet has fake SS decals on it, Its my largest lid and the carrier fits nicely. Regards, Lou

  17. This has been discussed on another Forum, and it is believed that the visor, and belt are not original the the set, and were added by a previous owner. Lou

    US M4 Sherman/US Thunderbolt P-47D

Thanks, and yes those P-47D Thunderbolts are big ausome fighter planes, that did some damage to the enemy! Also thanks for posting up those images of the recovered engines. Lou
  19. Hi All, I've just finished off my last 2 models, the first one is the 1/16 RC M4 Sherman Tank by Tamiya, and the second is that of a 1/24 US Thunderbolt P-47D by Kinetic, with this model I used a new paint product by Vallejo called Metal Colours, and I can say working with this product was smell free, and it dried in 5 minutes, and I can say I was happy with the finish. M-40 Helmet Relic.

Mate, I have repaired a few lids over the years, as I have over 30 lids, plus a few relic's in my collection, and with the leather pins I seen them in brass, and aluminium, also I have seen Norwegin liners with the same flat head pins, and my understanding that German leather liners were dyed reddish while they were still in their frame, and not removed. Anyway I am just going on the reddish colour of the leather, but saying that I have seen some darken German leathers, but what gives me the if's is that how the rest of the leather has darken, and to me I've seen this when someone puts on leather conditioner and that gives it that oily dark colour. Either way as you said you didn't invest much into it, and it gives you the look you want, plus its still a liner that was use back in that time frame. Cheers, Lou

    M-40 Helmet Relic.

Yep for me that is reddish brown, and looking at it more, and more, also it looks like the rest off the darken area off the leather has been messed with some kind of leather conditioner, and now I am leading to the liner being used in helmets used by the Norwegian Army. No big deal if you didn't pay top dollars for it well it still does the job, and matches the worn condition off the helmet. Now with the factory/size markings, well as you said that you due to it's poor condition the stamp has disappeared, well as you know these stamps are hammered in with metal dye's, and leave a indent in the metal, so if you want, and have one of the hobby Dermal tool, you can use one off the sand disks for metal and just slow apply to the area were the stamps are and that will bring out the indents, I have done it to a couple of my relic helmets, and if you take care sanding the area it really won't damage the helmet, and over a period of time the area darkens up. All the best in the rest off your restoration of the helmet, Lou

Well done, and some very nice mines, and weapons, like the jumping jimmy's, and your War room is well decked out Lou

    M-40 Helmet Relic.

Yeah on my screen it looks a real deep reddish brown, and if so that is what colour that was used by the Norwegian Army helmets. Can you take a clear close up in natural light of that section showing the colour, I just want to make sure that I am not giving you a problem. Lou

    M-40 Helmet Relic.

Hi, there may be a problem with that liner, as can you tell me we're there is colour showing is it reddish brown, as it looks like it on my screen, if it is then these liners were use by the Norwegian Army Post War. Lou
