Here the doctor who looked at him when he was wounded: Seitschek, Robert Dr., Ostuf. SS-number 367 375 unit: 1./Sani.Abt.10 Fits well with the story that the Inf. div was in the area where also the 10th SS division was. Really nice grouping.

Morten, that is a really intruguing photo, I see Heer, Deutsche Rotes kreuz, SS and maybe LW personnel...??.!!!...would this be a course for medics..?..or would it be a hospital..?..if a hospital, I would be surprised that they are all in their "going-out" dress... Really interesting photo...

Hi all, I have presented the LW medical officer here before but since then I have managed to acquire the award, the Hessische krieger abzeichen (may not be the correct term..).

Thanks guys, Actually a good friend of mine knew of my soldbuch and when he encountered the award at a friends house he persuaded him to sell it to me. Just proves that it is good to have friends...It is a slightly abscure award but I really like it, especially when it is on a photo I own.

More photos... Correct name is Kriegerehrenabzeichen in Eisen 1917. Instututet in 1917 and the conditions to get it was as follows (in german, sorry): Es war bestimmt für Personen die sich durch besondere Tapferkeit und dauernden Einsatz in vorderster Kampflinie ausgezeichnet haben. Bedingungen für die Verleihung waren: die hessische Staatsbürgerschaft, die mindestens 2-jährige Zugehörigkeit zu Einheiten im Kriegsgebiet unter Feindeinwirkung, ein oder mehrmalige Verwundung sowie Tapferkeit und gute Führung.
