  1. Here's the old leather strap I mentioned that's under the newer lugs.
  2. Here's some more photos
  3. Hello, I'm hoping someone can help identify this helmet. It's a raw rim with a rough texture. It's has new chin strap lugs in 1942, there's also remains of an old leather strap under the new lugs and an unusual liner with no maker marks. The only stamp on the shell is "443". The steel is also mildly magnetic. Any ideas?
  4. Yeah, can't stand that people are so willing to let these things rust away in sheds or gardens in this one's case.
  5. Here's the inside shot. It's not pretty unfortunately.
  6. Thanks Tinlid. I suspect you're correct. Would love to know if anyone else has seen one of these.
  7. Hi all, I found this helmet that was being used as a garden piece. As you can see its had a very rough paint job and then been left to slowly rust. I'm thing it's an old civil defence helmet or civilian helmet. I've not seen these simple chinstrap lugs before and was hoping someone could confirm what period this helmet was used. It was originally the standard green judging by what I've seen under the crap paint job. Unfortunately, due to neglect, there's a fair amount of pitting in the steel where the maker mark would have been.
  8. This may be completely unhelpful because I don't have a computer. I do it all on my phone. Here's how I do it anyway. Make sure full site not the mobile version. In the reply box, there's the "More Reply Option". & that's where I found the option to post photos.
  9. Hi Timothy, it doesn't look like a repaint to me. There's some scratches close to where a decal would have been, but it's just plain steel under them. Makes me think someone's had a go to see if there were decals that have been painted over. I'm thinking it's a late war helmet that didn't have decals for whatever reason.

  11. Yeah it's only my 2nd German helmet so I'm certainly no expert but I can't find any information on that stamp. Very frustrating thing.
  12. Here's the only marking the shell has.
  13. Hi all, I picked up this German fire helmet and everything looks pretty legitimate about it but I'm unsure of the makers stamp. Check out the photos and hopefully one of you can help confirm that this is in fact a ww2 period helmet.
