Picked this up yesterday in an antiques center near to me. Nicely marked twice to the RWF with two sets of service numbers, one has been overstamped with side ways I's, so I assume it was re issued or the owner had his number changed, though the former is more likely.
Jerry B posted a topic in Uniforms, Equipment & Clothing HeadgearOn its way to me from N Wales. The seller had it on the bay for the very top end online dealers price and it did not sell, I offered a low ball price, which they declined, then I gradualy offered a bit more until they agreed a price less than 50% of what they originally wanted, a price more in line with what it would sell local to me and more in line with what I was willing to pay. All that said, it is quite an uncommonly seen example dating to the pre WWI period, with RWF buttons, grenade collars and grenade with RWF shoulder titles and it still has its flash, which was only authorised for wear by OR's on dress tunics circa 1900. It still has traces of its paper label which I think was phased out at the start of WWI and it has an ink marking for the 5th Bn RWF. The sellers pics for now until it arrives in afew days.
