Battle of Jutland Cap tallies of the Imperial German forces
JustinG posted a topic in German Empire: Orders, Awards & Decorations
Greetings all, Well as I was able to wrap up and complete my Kriegsmarine Zerstörer collection. I have decided to take on a new area of collecting. I am going to collect the ships and perhaps the units tallies that took part in the Battle of Jutland. A monumental task and a very difficult one I believe, however I believe that with enough time, luck and money, this too can be achieved. I have some tallies on the way. I am looking forward to sharing them with you all. SMS Friedrich der Grosse SMS Ostfriesland SMS Thueringen SMS Oldenburg SMS Posen SMS Nassau SMS Deutschland SMS Hannover SMS Schlesien SMS Muenchen It is interesting to point out that umlauts or the ß symbol were not used with imperial tallies, so if the word had an umlaut like München or say Großer Kurfürst it would be spelled fully out as Grosser Kurfuerst. I know many of you probably understand that however, there hasn't been an imperial Mützenband posting yet. So. I am leading the way on this forum. All the best, JustinG- 16 replies

Thanks for looking at my collection. I wish to say that I am going to put up items from my collection and share them with you fine individuals. If you have an item that you would like to share or a question on a particular piece that is not in my collection, I humbly ask that you do not post it here. Please start a separate thread. Comments, if you have other questions or requests are appreciated. I am posting this because on several other sites, others have jumped in and posted their items or asked opinions about originality of an item like a Mützenband or a Schiffswappen. I thank you for looking at my collection. Greetings, Well, It is about time to share some of my collection. I recently acquired this grouping from another long time collector. I am grateful to him for giving me the opportunity to acquire this. This ship has a well chronicled history. A unit that operated very successfully despite being up against incredible odds. If you have never heard of this ship or it's exploits, there are several good books out there to check out. On the lifebouy, the words SMS Emden are written in Gray lettering. it is very faint and is difficult to photo but I assure you it says S.M.S Emden. Thanks, JustinG

JustinG posted a topic in Back Then & As Today (Museums, Battlefields,...)
Hi, I am working on blending different photos. I had taken this shot while in Munich in 2010. I had remembered seeing the wartime photo of the Marienplatz. Thanks for looking. It was fun and time consuming. Best Regards, JustinG -

Greetings, I have recently acquired this piece and I am eager to share. The pin is removed and there are holes to help the soldier affix this to his tunic. I hope you like it. The skull is one of the fiercest. Probably this and the the Skull on the Antipartisan badge (TR era) are probably the coolest (appearance wise) IMO. Hope you like.

Zerstörer Anton Schmitt completing collection
JustinG posted a topic in Kriegsmarine & Küstenartillerie
Greetings fellow forum members: I am very pleased to say that after an extensive search, I was able to acquire a Zerstörer Anton Schmitt tally thus completing the full named Destroyer fleet for the 2nd World War. This is a huge accomplishment. This was the last produced tally before the Germans stopped production and ordered the "Kriegsmarine" version to be worn instead. The ship was sunk in the first battle of Narvik. These are heavily coveted by German collectors as well as Norwegian collectors. I am very happy this tally will be soon on its way to Alaska. Greetings, It has been a little slow in this forum. I thought I would share, I am getting soon a nice medal. Fortunately, I have confirmed that it has made it through customs in Germany and is in the USPS hands in the states. This is one of the most attractive imperial medal. Mine is in a bronze Combatant finish. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have any ribbon with it. There were several clasps that could be with this medal. Here is a list. FOUPHING HOPHU HUOLU KALGAN KAUMI KITCHOU LIANG-HSIANG-HSIEN PEITANG-FORTS PEKING TAKU TIENTSIN TSKINGKWAN This list is from www.themedalhound.com a wonderful resource. Thanks and I look forward to showing you my specific medal soon. Regards, JustinG

Picked up a nice Uboat Veteran pin. Got it off Ebay. Thought I would post for thumbs up or down. "Torpedo Los-The Facinating world of U-boat collectables" by Gordon Williamson on page 387 has a version of this pin. His example is worn around the eyes and the badge shown has more silvering intact unless there is a completely different metal used here. Thanks for looking. Regards, JustinG

Hi, Well I got confirmation that I was able to purchase this. I think the eagle on these are the best produced. Let me know if there are any concerns. I think it is a fine example. The overexposed pictures can sometimes distort the badge. Thanks for looking. I will post pictures when item arrives. Best Regards, JustinG

Campaign shield and cuff title collection JustinG
JustinG posted a topic in Combat & Service Awards of the Wehrmacht
Hi, So I thought I would share my campaign shield display with the forum. Hope you like it. I know, I need to add a period Lappland and Lorient shield. Would be great to get a Metz 1944 and a Kurland cuff as well. Gotta make priorities though. I have to have some money left to afford rent and to eat. (I know, I know... where are my priorities? ) Regards, JustinG -
