Hi guys, I just got my first ever Commenwealth soldiers AB book and I have a few questions :)

first off, what kind training did this Canadian get ? I understand he did Rifle course 1 - 3 and LMG but what is 30x ABD ?

there is a real nice document which is a congrat message to the troops from a captain.. But unfortunatly no date on it ! Anybody has an idea when and where this battle took place and what is the name of the captain who signed ?

last thing in his medical entries at the 22/9 44 he is awarded something ?

The man joined the Canadian 1st infantry division in 1943 and would be send overseas with the division..

are your pay books Commenwealth too ?

Yes, I have two and also two certificate of service books.  Here is one of them to a soldier of the Italian company, an RE unit staffed by British troops but with its members drawn from people of Italian origin who might not otherwise be considered trustworthy.  The other one I own is to a member of the S Wales Borderers who was discharged.  He also had foreign relatives and might have been a POW as much of the info in his ab64 was been cut out of it.  Both also contain other documents that came with them tucked in the back.

so the British soldier did not get his rifle serial number written down in his soldiers book ? have to say information on the soldier in these ABs are quiet scares !

but that would be a good thing so the enemy if captured cant tell too much of unit history :)  do we know anybody on this forum who might tell us what the last 30 x ABD could be ?
