Brigadier/Colonel para beret

Recommended Posts

early/mid 1950's officers private purchase maroon beret for airborne forces or parachute regiment.

Colonel/Brigadier (or staff officer) rank airborne/parachute maroon beret, early to mid 1950's by Moss Bros, with ribbed silk edge trim. It has the sweat diamond made of a material which commonly discolours and becomes sticky over time which is usually only seen on wartime and early post private purchase officer headgear. Hidden behind it is a cloth label for Moss Bros, which is only visible as the stitching on the diamond has come loose and it was visible behind it and I was able to carefully remove it to photograph it. The bullion officers badge appears to be original to it and is post 1953/4 in date as it is of the Queens crown type, but not much later as the badge backing changed from black to maroon at a later date.

.Sadly the beret is not named to its original owner.
