USMC Shooting Jacket?

Recommended Posts

Would anyone have any information on the pictured jacket?  Dad was USMC in Vietnam, grandfather was USMC in WWII and Korea, and this was in a trunk of their mixed gear in the attic, so not sure if it was dad's or grandfather's.  There is nothing specifically id'ing it as USMC, but since it was with other gear, I'm just guessing.  And neither of them were recreational shooters outside of the military, so kinda doubt they bought this on their own for personal use.  The coloring also, and the red thread (not really visible in the photos, but much of the threading is red) suggest USMC, and I'm thinking the khaki color suggests WWII over Korea or Vietnam, where I think dark green might have been more common.  The pads are nice thick leather.  The only identifying marks are the "40" size tag and the buckle.
