Unidentified erkennungsmarke

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've found this EKM with my metal detector yesterday. It was bent like a sandwich. Unfortunately, While I was straightening, it broke. It's always tough to decipher a zinc erkennungsmarke because the writing usually are oxidated. If I read well, the abbreviations are 4/N. ER. BAT. MOT 51 all in Caps. Help me please!

4 Company

Nachrichten, Signals.

ER, Ersatz, Replacement

Bat, Battalion

Mot, Motorised

So, 4th Signals Replacement Company, from 51st Motorized Battalion?

Yes. That's my same doubt. I think it's an "I" and not a slash because neither 51° battery or battalion existed in the nachrichten. Battalion doesn't match for nachrichten at all. Btw, Thank me for your interest. Instead, the infantry is on lexicon, as you linked
