The post card picture is of Adolf II, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_II,_Prince_of_Schaumburg-Lippe

I cannot make out most of the writing on the document, but it seems to come from or belong to someone from Bückeburg, which is a town in the old principality of Schaumburg-Lippe. Dated 23rd February 1914.

Sorry not much help I am afraid.

Richard,

Great internet find. Thanks for hunting that one down and sharing.

I agree yours does seem to be some sort of award document, it looks in really good condition as well. Nice item to own.

Interesting that the Principality posted it out to him without any sort of covering, I assume this must have been standard procedure.
