Interesting Luftwaffen=Bordmechanikerschein

Recommended Posts

Gents,

Not been around much lately, my car was written off in an accident last month, I was not in the car but my family were....luckily they are all ok so that is good and the car saved them!
My HDD/DVD died and had to get a new one, the dishwasher broke down but luckily that was repaired....my PC died and I had to get a new one, luckily everything was backed up on an external drive.

So...I have time to post things again.....

Here is a Luftwaffen=Bordfunkerschein altered to make a Luftwaffen=Bordmechanikerschein that I recently bought in auction. Of course the reason I went for it was the photo of the holder wearing his awards!

It was issued 22.6.1942 by II Gruppe, Kampfgeschwader 27 to Uffz. Gerhard Glock. According to info on the front he joined the Luftwaffe on 1.4.1939 and his unit was 4/KG 27. Of course the unit must be his current unit rather than the unit he joined with!

1.1.1943 promoted to Feldwebel and 9.1.1945 promoted to Oberfeldwebel.

Inside it has been authorised by Major u. Gruppenkommandeur Reinhard Günzel (DKiG, RK + EL).

A little further digging confirmed that Gerhard Glocke himself had the following:

Unteroffizier Gerhard Glocke, Bordmechaniker, 4/Kampf-Geschwader 27
14.12.1942 Ehrenpokal
26.12.1943 Deutsches Kreuz in Gold

I already have the Ehrenliste for the date of his Ehrenpokal.....interestingly Gerhard Seidel above him was also 4/KG 27 and received the EP and DKiG on the same days!

Ian-

Sorry to hear about the string of bad luck. Cars computers and dishwashers can all be replaced - all that truly matters is that your family is healthy and safe. Glad to hear that they're OK and weren't injured in the accident!

Hope things pick up for you... And good to see you posting again.

Rob

Hello Ian,

I am interested in Gerhard Glocke, too.

Did you get the photo of Glocke wearing his awards - and do you still have it?

If so, I would very much like to see a picture of it.

I would also like to see a picture of his Luftwaffen=Bordmechanikerschein.

Would you upload the pictures on this site?

Kind regards

Bo, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Sorry only just seen your reply, didn't get any notification.....also will have to look. For some reason the images are no longer here........the photo of Glocke I was referring to in the one on the license.

Do you have his Ehrenpokal?

Hi Ian. Thanks for your answer.

No, unfortunately I haven't got his Ehrenpokal. I have photos of it which you may have seen on the net, too.

But I think I may have his Schirmmütze. It has a paper tag inside which says: "Uffz. Gerhard Glocke, 4./KG 27 Boelcke".

I would still very much like to see a photo of him - and of his Luftwaffen=Bordmechanikerschein.

Do you think the photos could be restored here on the site?

Do you have other items belonging to Glocke?

Bo

Ian, thank you for the very fine photos of the document - nicely signed by Major Reinhard Günzel, Gruppenkommandeur der II. Gruppe K.G. 27.

I can't really make Glocke's birth year out: it says 12. 2. -  but then - is it 1920?

Can you read the year better?

Thanks a lot!
