Obviously a veteran of WWI and winner of 1914 EK2/EK1 and 1939 spange to EK2/EK1.

I am trying to track down any additional information on this personality if anybody can assist with leads on any of his documents etc.

Found this piece of paper in the pocket. Appears to be a corner of a death card with some kind of notes on the back.

Can anybody make out the notes?

Amazingly after several hours of Google searching more info on Fichter I managed to track down a photo of him!

Photo shows Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 ace Werner Streib (right) standing with Oberst Wilhelm Fichter (left) when he was in command of Flak-Scheinwerfer-Regiment 1. Appears that Streib has given Fichter an honourary Nachtgeschwader 1 badge in thanks for his lighting up the skies for his fliers. Photo would have been taken sometime between 01.03.41 and 10.03.43. I can only see his EKI and Spange unfortunately.

Thanks Hans. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any further information on him. So until I find his soldbuch or wehrpass I can only speculate the awards.

He definitely won the 1914/1939 EKII as well as 1914/1939 EKI but that's all I know.

I have since updated the display with EK2 spange which could quite possibly have been worn on this tunic in this fashion.

Thanks man!

I was recently able to add another two pieces to this grouping. It includes a late war typed letter from General D. Flak Gerhard Hoffmann telling Fichter of his appreciation and commendation. And the second piece is a work of custom music written and composed by an officer and NCO from his unit. The owl on the front fits nicely with his command at Flakscheinwerfer Reg 1.
