Here is a nice all TR 4-place, made by Grabow & Matthes, Kiel. The green ribbon is most like for the Italian Order of SS. Maurice & Lazarus, Hungarian Merit Order (peacetime), or possibly the Swedish Vasa Order.

Nice acquisitions, Pierce! Hope you'll add more named bars, always nice to add a face / name to a bar and find more about it. Thanks for sharing with us.

Here is my favourite group in my collection...the medal and ribbon bars of Vizeadmiral Werner Grassmann.

Foreign awards:

- Belgium: Leopold-Order Military Knights Cross, awarded 19.10.1912 to Leutnant zur See Werner Grassmann, S.M.S VICTORIA LOUISE

- Siam: Order of the White Elephant, Knights Cross, awarded 10.8.1915 to Oberleutnant zur See Werner Grassmann, S.M.S. VICTORIA LOUISE

Grassmann was the only Jewish admiral in the Kriegsmarine!

Pierce, do you still have Grassmann's medal and ribbon bars in your private collection?

I bumped into the info that he was the only Jewish admiral in the Kriegsmarine. May I ask for the source of this claim? It's interesting to me. Were both his father and mother Jewish? Do you have more info in general?

Thanks

This info came from a thread on GMIC. I am not sure of the exact source but it would be interesting to find out more.
