OK,thanks Jerry and Dave.

I can now see where the lack of cut-outs on the crown and lion are a reason for concern.

After looking at other originals that feature these cut-outs,i guess this one is for the repro drawer for now.

Thanks again,Martin.

Yup for the in doubt drawer for now.

Agree, never throw them away, as it might be good, certainly in my case not my area.

Good evening martin and Jerry.

I showed this to one of my best friends and he said its iffy without the voiding,

However it was not dismissed as a bad one.

It needs investigation and that comes in time.

In the drawer like i said.

And not on disply.

Thanks guys.

Trust me,i never throw anything military related away.

Interestingly, here is an illustration from Gaylor's book.

Maybe it's my old eyes, but does the crown and the area around the lion on this example look non-voided to you guys ?

Cheers,Martin.

A £6 buy it now from the bay, appears to be an extruded slider economy or all brass for the Monmouthshire regiment.

Thanks mate.  The seller posted really poor pics, but at the price I thought it was worth a risk and this time it paid off.

Took a chance on these 4 from the bay, they look ok to me and the price was pretty good even if 50% of them are bad.

The brecks was the one that I had doubts about, not seen it in white metal before.

Thanks mate.

I had a look at Andy's album for the brecks and he has a white metal example on a slider, so perhaps it is good after all.  It certainly seems very similar to the one I bought as far as the sellers pictures allowed.
