Booklet & FDCs 617 Squadron February 1945 - July 1998

Recommended Posts

A meeting with the veterans.

I don't know why but I was the only one who asked them for signatures.

A year later the signed FDCs came out and I thought that they were a nice addition to the small booklet with the signatures.

Thank you Dani.

Including the highest RAF officer rank at that time - Air Vice Marshall Philip Sturley.

Best regards

Great  stuff  Eric-Jan.

In  my job  i  regularly  drive  through  the  small  town  where  617  Squadron  was  formed, Woodhall  Spa in  Lincolnshire.  The  memorial  to  the  Squadron in  the  town  is  in  the  shape of  a  dam. I believe  their  HQ was  at,  what  is  now  the  local  Golf  Club.

RAF Scampton  where  they  flew  from  is  not  too  far  away. Nice little  village  near  to  the  airfield.  The  Church  has  Commonwealth  War  Graves  from  the  airfield. I  have  stopped  a  couple of  times,  must  do  again  soon and  see  which  squadron  they  are  from.

If possible please - some images from that place are most welcome in this thread.
