That's a very nice way to display the document of your earned medal. Like you said, he must been very proud of it. I have never seen it before. Very nice Brian :thumbup:

 Hello all, signed by Generalleutnant Friedrich Wiese (recipient of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves) and signed in Kursk (im felde) 15 days before the beginning of the battle, did you say piece of history :thumbup:

Hi folks, this is my earliest EK2 doc. Kev has earlier examples. This was obviously awarded for the Polish campaign. Let's see yours :smile:. Stewy

Two early Kriegsmarine related ones - the first to the future Second-in-Command of the Scharnhorst and the other to a crew member of U-18...

Eiserne Kreuz 2. Klasse Urkunde issued to Feldwebel Helmut Saure, Beobachter in 7./Kampgeschwader 4 "General Wever", issued on 24-September-1939 for action during the Polandfeldzug.

 

Helmut Saure would be killed over Volos Harbour, Greece on 11-April-1941 in a Junkers Ju 88 A-5 as a Leutnant in 7./Kampfgeschwader 30.  He was also awarded the Eiserne Kreuz 1. Klasse and Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz and completed 60 Fiendflug.
