Herefordshire Regiment (Light Infantry ).

Formed in 1861 as the 1st Administrative Battalion,Herefordshire & Radnorshire Rifle Volunteers.

In 1880 was re-designated 1st Herefordshire (Hereford & Radnor) Rifle Volunteers.

In 1881 it became the volunteer battalion of the Kings Shropshire Light Infantry.

In 1908 it was transfered to the Terretorial Force as the Hereforshire Battalion,KSLI (without the Radnorshire companies)and in 1909 was renamed as the 1st Battalion,The Herefordshire Regiment.

In 1947 it was re-designated 1st Battalion,The Herefordshire Light Infantry.

In 1967,as part of the re-organization of the Terretorial Army,it was disbanded as a regiment.

OR badge in white metal of the type sealed on Dec.9 1949 after the re-designation to 1st Battalion,Herefordshire Light Infantry.
