Hi Jerry,

Your recent pick up is a nice photograph my friend.

In the old days most photos that were printed on postcard size paper did have a pre-printed "postcard" design on the back.

I think that is the same with your photo.

The photographer did make a nice portrait photo of your man, did print it on postcard back paper, the soldier took the photo(s) home for his parents, wife of girlfriend, etc. but never used the photo to be send as a postcard.

Thanks for showing.

Best regards

Eric-Jan

A new arrival and quite pricey as it is a uncommon image with good details of the badge, collar and buttons for the 7th Welsh cyclists battalion from just before WWI.  Note they have blackened cap and collar badge, the latter being the welsh dragon, and rifle's unit buttons.

It has a standard post card layout on the back and has a partial date stamp but sadly the year is missing, but is otherwise unused.

The blackened welsh dragon collar badges are very rare & very expensive if you can find them, whilst the blackened cap badge are not common and attract a higher price than normal examples do.

Jerry,

That is a very nice detailed Welsh portrait photo my friend.

Besides what you all mention about the details, I do like his mustache version too.

Thanks for showing.

Best regards

Hi Jerry,

Fine pieces of needlework my friend.

That third one - Royal Welsh Fusiliers - is a nice example for your Welsh collection.

Thanks for showing them.

Thanks E-J.  The 2nd one is also welsh being for the south wales borderers.  I wold love to add one to the Welsh regiment to complete the set.  Mind you I have  a scan of one to the Monmouthsires that was for sale but was too pricey.  I don't think I have ever seen one for the Brecknockshires but it would be pricey as would one for the Welsh Guards.

It would be nice to get the Mons and Brecknocks as they would go nicely with badges and medal I have.  The Welsh horse is another I don't remember seeing and would be very rare, though I don't remember if they served abroad and therefore one would not have been made.

Jim,

I do like that Welsh Dragon above all other Welsh badges.

And when talking about the Mons cards you are showing us in post # 87 and # 88, the # 88 one shows a more powerful dragon, especially wih that raised claw !

Thanks for showing.

Best regards

Another example that is not mine that is for sale, but is more than I am willing to pay for it.  That said, it is mcuh cheaper than the last example I saw.
