Postwar Souval KC with interesting set of OLS ...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

First of all, this particular piece is not a 57er awards, its a postwar KC by Souval ( with swastika ).

Now that's out of the way ( :squint: ), was able to add this very nice set to my collection.

I appealed to me as first of all, it was a mint condition set, but it had a very strange set of OLS.

The KC itself is 3-piece made and has a magnetic core, low swastika, typical for Souval.

As to the OLS .... its somewhat an enigma to me. They are not St&L, nor are they Schickle / Deumer.

There is some resemblance to the later Souval Oaks / OLS, so my guess is this is their first high-end version.

The finish and detail is way too good for this to be reproduction .....

Looking forward to comments on this set of OLS ( its only the second set I've come across )

Grtz,

Mathijs

But first up some detailed shots of the KC itself, which is a very nice mint condition piece, not so easy to find.

Hi Mathijs,

a fantastic looking set from Souval ....... the first one in mint condition that i see

As to the OLS, i am here with you that it´s a set by Souval. The style of, especially the middle oak, is typical and exactly the same as on the later versions. This here could be the earliest set ..... maybe made early 50s?

I am no expert on Souval KC´s , how would you date your KC, as early as the OLS?

Really a fantastic set, congrats  :squint:

Now something different ..... sorry for the longer absence. My project in the garden takes all my time and power at the moment. I jump often in but too tired to make some responses although you all show great and fantastic pieces. In about two weeks i´ll have finished my new pond.

Great set Mathijs!!

OLS are surely early Souval's, look to be a nicer quality than what we usually see, I agree with Rudiger that these are likely a 50's set, possibly pre-dating the 57ers as Souval's earliest blank core EK's did, and aimed at vets rather than the collectors market I would think!!

Hi Alex,

No worries, my friend. This is indeed a Souval piece, but rather a mid-late production ( you can see the flaws on the frame ).

The later versions came with the "o" mark on the core ( 6 o'clock arm ). Still the one you show here is a nice Souval ( if the price is right )

Mathias:

That is an absolutely stunning Souval KC, thank you for sharing with the Forum. Your cross is a thing of beauty. I hope to add a KC like yours to my collection one day.

Best regards,

John R.
