Original Tirpitz Erinnerungsnadel VS post-war Erinnerungsnadel

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I would like to show you the difference betweeen the original Tirpitz Erinnerungsnadel VS post-war veteran made Tirpitz Erinnerungsnadel.

There has been some dicussion around this needle on different forums, but I have not seen what the conclution is between collectors. It is a really rare needle and I have not seen a original one before a fellow Norwegian collector which has found two Tirpitz Erinnerungsnadel at the wreck site, showed me pictures of it. There was made some new needles for the veterans after the war and those are the once that shows up for sale once in a while as original war made needles. As far as I know, there wore never made any pins with short needles like the ns-pins etc.

The one with the long needle is the original one and the others are post-war made for veterans. Maybe one of them is a replica of the post-war for all I know.

These pictures is not of the needles found at the wreck site, but a needle that was on auction at herman historica for just a few days ago. I have studied the wreck-site needles against this one, and it is a original Tirpitz Erinnerungsnadel.

I have also added a picture of the urkunde for the Tirpitz Erinnerungsnadel.

Hi André,

Thank you for such an informative thread on our forum.

I have only once seen the Tirpitz-Erinnerungsnadel with such a long pin together with the Verleihungsurkunde in a Soldbuch and documents grouping.

As it wasn't my collecting field of interest I didn't take much notice of it.

Great to see the good and the bad ones together now.

Thanks for showing.

Best regards

Eric-Jan
