Großdeutschland/Führerhauptquartiere Portrait

Recommended Posts

Hello gentlemen,

I was referred here by a fellow member of the Wehrmacht Award Forum. For my first post I thought it would share my favorite portrait with you. I look forward to speaking with other collectors and sharing more of my photos on the forum.

Regards,

Bryant

Nice photo. I'm sure I have seen this photo before (and I don't mean when you posted it on the WAF! :) ). I don't think it is in Scott Pritchett's books on GD so not sure why it is familiar.

Is it named or do you know anything more about the officer? Thanks for sharing.

P.S.

In this thread, you can find another GD/FHQ Portrait: Ebay Catch

Kevin,

Please let me know if you can figure out where you saw him.

At first glance I did think he was Hauptmann Peter Frantz but these two had very different Grossdeutschland careers.

Bart,

I wish knew more about the Hauptmann. No name as of yet. Someone did

identify the last ribbon on his bar as being the Slovak Bravery Medal so

perhaps that will help me find out who he is.

Thank you for the link. I need to start looking on German Ebay!

As you say definitely not Peter Frantz especially as he won the RK as an Oberleutnant and pretty much spent most of his career in GD's StuG components.

Great photo! Have you tried asking Scott Pritchett? He might be able to help you with identifying him.

Good luck!

I wonder if the two come from a group recently broken up? Great portrait by the way.

Indeed but cool that you find another one of him. Nothing written on the back side there?

Cheers Bart

Wow, you were very lucky to be able to reunite these portraits. I recently had the same luck too Bryant. Love it when that happens! Beautiful portraits
