From a Guest: "The star of the 1st Class (known as the Grand Cordon) is worn on the left breast, whilst the star of the 2nd Class (equivalent to Grand Officer) is worn on the right breast. This is the practice followed by all Japanese recipients of the Order of the Rising Sun, the Order of the Sacred Treasure, and the Order of the Golden Kite."
