Kameraad,

Interesting thread with a fine piece of historical research to it.

Thanks for starting up this thread and for showing the history of those men.

Best regards

Eric-Jan

Acquired a new one for the collection.. Another young soldier who was Killed in Action for the Fatherland around Hürtgenwald..

Obergefreiter Xaver Ott was only 21 years old when he fell on the 4th of December 1944 near Düren. Ott was born on

25 November 1923 in Bollstadt. Belonged to the Luftwaffe. Sadly I have no further information on Obgf. Xaver Ott.

Xaver Ott could have belonged to Fallschirm-Artillerie-Regiment 12 as this unit was active near Düren around 4 December 1944.

Another one I purchased a while ago to an NCO (Unteroffizier) and Gruppenführer in a Fallschirmjäger-RegimentJoseph "Josef" Schmeller is buried in Königswinter-Ittenbach-Kriegsgräberstätte (Block E Reihe 9 Grab 174). Volksbund has him KIA on 1.12.1944 however according to the Death Card he fell on 10.12.1944 in Walde von Hürtgen (Hürtgen Forest). He may have belonged to I./ Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 5.
