In a previous thread, members were asked to share their Wehrpass photos that showed the man in uniform (Wehrpass Photos). To compliment that thread I thought that I would start another, but this time for Soldbuch photos that show the man wearing awards. So, if you have an interesting photo on the inside cover of a Soldbuch that shows the man wearing such things as an EK I, Infantry Assault Badge, Pilots Badge and so on please feel free to share.

Indeed a great idea Kevin, thank you for starting up this thread.

Although damaged, still one of my favorites is Albert Fabritius.

attachicon.gifFab.2 001.jpg

Kompanie Truppführer 8. / Grenadier-Regiment 404 / 246. Volksgrenadier-Division.

KC winner February 9th, 1945.

Nice image. I wonder if he was given a chance to change it after winning the RK?

Oberfeldwebel Kurt Bruckmann.

Flew exclusively with Lehrgeschwader 1, and was awarded the EK 2, EK 1 and the Frontflug-Spange für Kampfflieger in Silber awarded on 02-June-1944, and clearly evident on his Soldbuch photo.

Josef Baudrexl

His Soldbuch starts on 9.9.1939 with the rank of Schütze and behind that written in brackets (Ersatzmann)

1.1.1941 promoted to Gefreiten and 1.12.1942 to Obergefreiten.

The latest entry in his Soldbuch shows Jan.1945.

Can't say that he did climb through the ranks in all those years while fighting with the 212.Infanterie-Division, later renamed 212.Volks-Grenadier-Division, although he was a real "Frontschwein", did end up in hospital two times, first time with 31A, second time with 31B.

His awards were : Ostmedaille, Infanterie Sturmabzeichen, Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse, Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz, Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse, Nahkampfspange I.Stufe.

Nice photo of Baudrexl taken in the field, including the shadow of the photographer.

Max Fesl.

Not much showing on his uniform, but he did serve with the 212.Infanterie-Division, later renamed 212.Volks-Grenadier-Division, my favorite Battle of the Bulge unit.

Nothig special, but a picture that speaks volumes:

Bruno Gutbroot (various Inf. Units)

Awarded Ostmedal, EK2 and Wound Badge in Silver.

Wounded 12.02.1944, and finally died of his wounds 29.04.1945.

You can almost see in the picture how affected Gutbroot was of his wounds.

Some nice photo's in this thread!

Here are two of mine:

First one is a rather long picture, he received the Inf.Sturm.Silber and Verw.Abz. Schwarz. Both can be seen on the picture.

The second one is from an officer. He received the EKII, Ostmedaille, KVK I Klasse, 4-year service medal, Verw.Abz.Schwarz and the EK I Klasse.

The Verw.Abz. is probably below the KVK I Klasse. He received the EK I after the picture was made, in  april 1945.

This is a particular favourite as the award page is missing from the Soldbuch but your can clearly see his awards...Iron Cross 2nd (September 1942 Stalingrad) and 1st class (14.9.1943 Italy), Sudetenland Medal ribbon, Wound Badge in Black, General Assault Badge, Army Flak Badge.
I have his photo album where dates are mentioned against certain photos.....

Hello,

Other type of photography for a type of unit whom I appreciate particularly, the units of foreign volunteers. Here a volunteer of a Cossack unit with the particular collar tabs.

Cordial greetings.
