Lothians & Border Horse ?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

i went to a local show here today in San Jose.

As always, good to meet up with fellow collector and dealer friends.

Anyway,i am always on the lookout for interesting photo's and i picked this one up for a few bucks.

The RTC shoulder title attracted me right away.

After getting home i looked through my references to identify the cap badge. The only badge that came close is one i found in the Yeomanry chapters and it appears to be that of the Lothians & Border Horse ?

So,we have the RTC from 1923 to 1939,when they became the RTR.

The Yeomanry,in 1922 became the 19th (Lothians and Border Horse) Armoured Car Company,Royal Tank Corps.Transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps in 1939 as the 1st Lothians and Border Horse,it's duplicate unit being the 2nd Lothians and Border Horse.

So,i have to think that the photo was taken prior to 1939.

It is a very nicely detailed image and a bargain at that.
