Unknown Badge. To me anyway !

Recommended Posts

Can anyone identify this badge. I have had it knocking around for a while. I am not sure what country this item comes from so was not sure where to post it.

Thanks,

Graham.

Dear Graham,

I am not sure what this is but I would guess it's related to the German Duchy of Hesse.

The "E" is identical to the lettering use on the Hesse War Decoration of Honour (EL = Ernst Ludwig).

Ernst's first wife was Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha so the letter "V" could be relating to her.

Kind regards
Pierce

Dear Graham & Pierce, first of all Pierce thanks for the input but the insignia has been identified (thanks to Benjamin who replied on our Facebook page) and this is the insignia for the Italian CARABINIERI REALI (WWII). Added a PC with the insignia drawned and on a hat (source: http://www.mymilitaria.it/liste/ccrr_feluca.htm)

Thank you all for your efforts. My first thoughts had been Italian, but I could not find anything like it. Now I know its Carabinieri Reali a quick search has found much information and images of the badge on various headdress.

Thanks again,

Graham.
